21日在亚特兰大机场，两名女乘客下飞机后从通道前往机场大厅的过程中，突然扭打在一起。机长见状上前抓住其中一人的手，掌掴对方，然后走开。

等打斗的两人冷静下来，机长再次走近出言相劝。事件曝光后，该机长一度被停职。

但达美航空调查后认为，涉事的两名女子相互认识，她们在机舱里已有过争执，而之后机长的举动是出于平息冲突的目的，因此已让其复职。
