高志宏，现年65岁，唐山市截瘫疗养院退休职工。地震前为河北机电学院绘图专业毕业生。她清楚地记得，地震前日天气格外炎热，夜里十点天空还是通红通红的。更令她印象深刻的是，全家人因自己毕业归来而高兴不已。当晚，她还做了个美梦，梦见自己坐着火车去被分配的工作单位报到。只是，火车越来越颠簸……

是时，人正酣睡，万籁俱寂。突然，地光闪射，地声轰鸣，房倒屋塌，地裂山崩。数秒之内，百年城市建设夷为墟土。二十四万城乡居民殁于瓦砾，十六万多人顿成伤残，七千多家庭断门绝烟……
