2014年7月中国国家主席习近平访韩，在与韩国总统朴槿惠举行首脑会谈时承诺将赠送韩国大熊猫，租借期为15年。韩国也成为继美国、英国、日本等国家之后的第14个拥有中国赠送熊猫的国家。
据韩国《中央日报》2月19日报道，中国国家主席习近平赠送给韩国的大熊猫将在下月来到韩国，4月份将与韩国民众正式见面。此次来韩的大熊猫为一对情侣，公熊猫3岁，身高1米63，体重89公斤，性格豁达喜欢爬树；母熊猫2岁，身高1米54，体重78.5公斤，性格温顺略带羞涩。左边为雄性熊猫，右边为雌性熊猫（网页截图）
中韩两国曾在去年为这两只熊猫征集姓名，从8500个名字当中已选出5个候选，正在等待与中国方面最后商议。据悉，这对情侣熊猫将在3月份乘坐专机来到韩国，经过1个月的适应期后于4月份正式与韩国民众见面。野生大熊猫是濒临灭绝的珍稀动物，全世界只有1800余只，是中国特有的珍贵动物，也象征着中国爱护和平、重视发展中韩关系。
