国际在线报道（记者 杨琼、莫小亮）：7月11日，中国人民解放军驻吉布提保障基地成立暨部队出征仪式在广东湛江某军港码头举行。海军司令员沈金龙宣读驻吉布提保障基地组建命令并授予军旗，海军政治委员苗华致辞。
中国人民解放军在吉布提建设保障基地，并派驻必要的军事人员，是中吉两国政府经过友好协商作出的决定，符合两国人民共同利益。该基地位于吉布提共和国首都吉布提市，主要为中方在非洲和西亚方向参与护航、维和、人道主义救援等任务提供有效保障，也有利于中方更好执行军事合作、联演联训、撤侨护侨、应急救援等海外任务，与有关方面共同维护国际战略通道安全。
