也有英国媒体认为，这次变故虽然对梅的冲击严重，但不一定是致命的，因为她在党内仍能获得大多数人的支持。去年曾呼吁梅下台的英国保守党前主席夏普斯对媒体表示，现在更换领导人是错误时机——一次竞选需要花费3个月时间，而英国与欧盟都希望能在今年10月前达成脱欧协议，“我们没有这个时间”。

《卫报》称，对梅来说，约翰逊与戴维斯的离开并非坏事，这意味着她能在内阁里增加支持她的成员，接替约翰逊被任命为外长的亨特就被认为是这样的人选。他9日在社交媒体上表示，将“全力支持”首相达成好的脱欧协议。

现年51岁的亨特早年毕业于牛津大学，曾到日本教英语，练就一口流利的日语。他的妻子是华人，来自西安。

亨特是英国任职时间最长的卫生大臣，从2012年起担任这一职务。在2016年脱欧公投中，亨特与梅一样是留欧派。但他后来改变立场，称对欧盟在谈判中的“傲慢”表现感到失望。（记者 纪双城 青木 任重 王会聪）
