2014年09月11日，河南省郑州市建设路与桐柏路公交站台上，3名八十多岁的老人手持标牌呼吁：“老年人要给年轻人让座”。
近日，发生在郑州919路公交车上因一年轻人拒绝让座，引发争执导致一老人心脏病突发猝死事件。关于年轻人在乘坐公交时该不该给老人让座，一时间激起众多市民和网友的争论。
在街头呼吁活动中的81岁老人梁永祥老人称，年轻人让座是人情，不让座是本分，老年人应当站在长辈的角度，更多的理解现今的压力过重，上班忙碌的年轻人，人都有老时，主动给老人让座是社会文明进步的标志，需要年轻人身体力行。但让座首先是谦让，绝不是索取。
