2016年05月31日，四川省成都市机投中学，中考即将来临，机投中学的初三学生竟然在教室里玩起了“麻将”。原来学生们玩的“麻将”并非传统麻将，而是校长田精耘发明的“英语麻将”。
这种麻将是一种独特的英语教具，以麻将为载体，在麻将的正面贴上了英文字母，学生通过对不同的麻将进行组合，最后可以拼成不同的单词。这样不仅可以帮助学生记忆单词，同时也锻炼了学生的词根联想记忆能力。不仅是麻将，扑克牌和围棋上也都是英文字母。学生们每出一次牌、走一步棋，都会在自己的本子上记下一个单词，最后，谁的单词多谁就是“赢家”。
