当地时间12月1日，日本下关港市，日本科研捕鲸船队从山口县下关港出发前往南极海域。
这三艘船组成的日本科研捕鲸船队从该国山口县下关市的下关港出发前往南极海域。船队将从今年12月下旬至2016年3月在南极海域开展科研捕鲸活动。
早在2014年3月，国际法院曾下达判决，勒令日本停止在南极海域的科研捕鲸。此后日本仅开展了目视调查，此次将重启捕鲸调查。
