12月20日，綦江区市民刘先生用小车拉着3万元每枚面值1元的硬币，存到重庆银行綦江支行。在刘先生家里，还有17万元的硬币等待存入银行。据重庆银行綦江支行方面的计划，预计将刘先生20万元硬币全部清点完毕，该行20名员工将花上一周的时间。

刘先生从事汽车齿轮经营。半个月前，山东济南的一位客户提出用20万元硬币付以前欠刘先生的货款。经过考虑，刘先生答应收下这20万元硬币，这些硬币总重量超过1.2吨。

收到硬币后，刘先生跑了多家银行希望能够存进去，但是其他银行以清点硬币需要耗费大量时间和人力为由，提出需要支付一定手续费，只有重庆银行綦江支行同意以普通存款方式接受这笔特殊的存款。这些硬币需要逐个打开包装，查看有无假币，然后重新按照银行标准进行包装，所以清点工作比较复杂。20名银行员工在完成本职工作之外，需要加班一周才能完成清点工作。
