中哈边境萨尔布拉克草原，在这个季节已是一片荒凉。国庆节这天，驻守在祖国西北边陲的新疆塔城军分区额敏河边防连执勤官兵，来到“老魏叔”家中和他一起升起五星红旗。官兵们口中的“老魏叔”名叫魏德友，他和老伴已经义务巡边54年，被中宣部授予“时代楷模”荣誉称号，并被评为“全国道德模范”。54年来，魏德友像一棵坚韧的胡杨扎根于此。五星红旗，每一天都在这里升起！
