马里奥·克林格曼是在艺术中使用AI技术的先驱，曾为艺术界贡献了不少模型。2018 年，他获得了Lumen奖，该奖项旨在表彰使用科技创作的艺术品。“这台机器涉及到人工神经网络，它处于一个反馈环，不断地创造出新的面孔，这些面孔开始变化并逐渐消失。当你经过展示台，面对这些转瞬即逝的面孔时，它刚好也表达了作品名的寓意——路人的记忆。”他强调。

克林格曼向买家承诺，他会用一生的时间创作出完全原创的肖像画。AI艺术品生成器需要持续不断的电力来维持运转，它会从数据库中调动数千幅西欧艺术作品来进行创作。

与许多质疑人工智能艺术的独创性和深度的声音相反，苏富比的当代艺术专家Marina Ruiz Colomer 给予了这一艺术品很高评价，认为将为观众提供“实时观察 AI 大脑是如何思考的”的机会，并表示：“推动界限是当代艺术的本质，人工智能艺术是最新的创新，在艺术史中占据了一席之地，克林格曼的作品屹立在我们这个领域的令人兴奋的新纪元边上。”
