在派出所里，清醒之后的黄某雄交代当时纵火的原因，更是让人哭笑不得。部分吸毒人员在吸食冰毒以后会产生幻觉，精神十分亢奋，黄某雄当时就处于这种状态。据黄某雄时候供述，当时脑里突然产生了奇怪的想法，很好奇火烧起来是怎么样的，接着竟然用打火机将家中二楼房间床上的棉被点燃，火势一发不可收拾。目前，黄某雄已被公安机关刑事拘留。其纵火后造成的直接损失高达3.5万元，而这个经济损失也只能由黄某雄父母独自承担。
3月11日中午13时，广东汕尾陆丰金厢镇就发生了这样一件事，一名青年男子在吸毒后竟然点火烧自己的屋子，好在没有人员伤亡。接到群众报警之后，金厢边防派出所官兵携带消防设备马上出动。起火的是一家肠粉饺子店，而纵火燃烧这家店的竟然是店主自己28岁的儿子黄某雄。由于被烧的是二楼房间，家具、被子、衣服等可燃物较多，边防官兵到达的时候，现场火势已经非常凶猛，而纵火者黄某雄也已不知去向。
由于屋内还存放着煤气罐，危险性极高，边防官兵只能在邻居楼上用简易的灭火器进行灭火。附近的村民也拿着水桶自发加入到灭火行动中，火势得到了基本的控制，没有蔓延殃及到周边居民楼。十分钟后，接警前来的消防车赶到，边防、消防官兵一起灭火，明火很快就熄灭了。现场没有人员伤亡。
