有微博网友爆料称，上海野生动物园一只小黑熊因从黑熊区域误入老虎区域，被一群老虎围攻死亡。12日，新民晚报新民网记者从上海野生动物园获悉，死亡的小黑熊刚刚搬入熊区不久，约3岁，由于受到惊吓误入虎区。接下来，上海野生动物园将加装监控设备，确保无死角监控。
事发时，有网友用手机拍摄下了当时的情况。视频中，4只老虎围攻一头黑熊，几秒钟后，现场游客就传出惊呼声：“咬死了”。据游客分析，可能观光投喂车进入老虎区域时，熊躲在车的旁边，进入园区工作人员的视角盲区，才使得工作人员给投喂车开门。
据一位网友另外一个角度拍摄的照片显示，围攻黑熊的老虎超过10只，黑熊被咬死后，被这群老虎分食。
据上海野生动物园调查，死亡的小黑熊刚刚搬入熊区不久，约3岁，由于受到惊吓往虎区逃窜。碰巧此事一辆投喂观光车由熊区驶入虎区，小熊进入监控死角。
发现小黑熊入虎区后，斑马巡逻车曾试图营救，但却未成功。
