据英国《每日邮报》报道，在印度北方邦的沙贾汉布尔，一名25岁的年轻女子卡姆利什(KamleshRathore)被27岁的丈夫拉索尔(SanjeevRathore)割掉了鼻尖，原因是她一直拿不出5万卢比(约为人民币5000元)的嫁妆。
这对年轻的夫妻已经结婚8年，并有一个6岁的女儿，但卡姆利什家一直没有支付5万卢比的嫁妆。据卡姆利什控诉，拉索尔每天都要因为嫁妆问题骚扰自己，常被对方用腰带、拖鞋、棍棒等折磨。“我反复告诉他我父亲很穷，支付不起这笔费用，但他就是不听，还常常威胁要割掉我的鼻子。”
