受害人父母指一名19岁男子过去数月曾跟踪女儿，在7日凌晨时份，凶犯入屋行凶，事发时他们听到女儿在家中天台传来尖叫声，之后发现她身上着火。受害人后被送到新德里医院救治，情况严重，当地传媒报道，她的身体有95%皮肤烧伤，她向警员供称，遭跟踪她多月的男子强奸、虐打再纵火。随后女孩伤重不治。图为少女葬礼。
