据俄罗斯军工综合体网站1月27日报道，沙特阿拉伯正在研究参加中国和巴基斯坦JF-17“雷电”/FC-1“枭龙”战斗机联合生产项目，结成伙伴关系的前景问题。
相关消息人士指出，沙特国防部和空军代表已经造访巴基斯坦，详细了解“枭龙”战斗机的情况。其中一位代表指出，这个项目能够成为“技术王国”，能够用于新项目的研发。
沙特官方公告指出，1月20日沙特副国防大臣苏莱曼-本-苏丹王子访问巴基斯坦，了解仿照美国F-16制造并从2013年底开始批量生产的JF-17战斗机。巴基斯坦武装力量参谋长拉赫利-谢里夫上将安排了战机飞行演示。双方讨论了军事领域合作问题，包括人才培训和经济交流。在会谈中双方还讨论了一系列相互感兴趣的问题，包括地区安全问题。
西方外交官表示，巴基斯坦是沙特的主要战略伙伴。巴基斯坦在中国协助下向海湾合作委员会成员国提供导弹和其他类型的武器。相关消息人士指出，巴基斯坦向沙特推销军用飞机、坦克和潜艇，愿意转让技术，组织联合生产。预计沙特购买巴基斯坦武器的规模将会增加。
